Dumb question, but have you tried cleaning your display? I've found that the little alcohol pads that diabetics use before giving themselves shots are absolutely wonderful for cleaning the displays. It's the correct kind of alcohol, (the denatured stuff), and it's premeasured onto the pad all ready. You can get a box of like 100 of them for about a dollar. I've revived many displays with this stuff.
