Night of the Walking Dead
Aug. 29th, 2006 09:17 pmSo, I'm home again. I'm extremely tired, so this won't be too long, but I wanted to let everyone know that I did actually make it home. And, the good news is that I found out that I don't have to go anywhere for work for Wednesday or Thursday. I was supposed to, but plans changed. I am really relieved!!!! SMILE!
My train was supposed to leave this morning at 2:28 AM. However, we left instead at 3:15 AM. I don't remember much about the first part of the trip. I just sort of relaxed, and I must have slept because I kept having to go through the same part of my book over and over. Gotta love those bookmarks! The conductor got me to a seat this time, and I was lucky enough to get 2 pillows. I had my blanket, but ended up not needing it for quite a while because it was really warm in the car this time. It figures that because I had a blanket I wouldn't need it.
We got to Minneapolis at around 8:30 AM and I went to the dining car for breakfast. They didn't have anything in the lounge that interested me so I ended up eating what they called their continental breakfast; oatmeal with lots of brown sugar, yogurt, pineapple and grapes, and a biscuit. It was really neat to cross through all the cars to get to the one I needed, although there were a couple of times I thought I was going to fall down.
During breakfast they made the announcement that we would be delayed for close to 3 hours because they were doing maintenance on the tracks. They had plans to put some people on a bus so that they could make their connections, but that ended up not happening. We ended up waiting a couple of different times. I was supposed to get in at 2:05 PM and we pulled in exactly three hours late. My cell battery was almost completely flat, I wore out one set of batteries in my Book Port, (they weren't fully charged, but they went fast with me constantly replaying the same section of the book over and over), and I'd played about all the computer games i could think of to play. I was definitely glad to be back home. Taz and Cally seem happy to see me, although Cally is being nicer to me than Taz is at the moment. I'm just waiting for it to go 10:00 so that I can go to bed. I've got more to write about, but I can't do it tonight, and all of a sudden I can't remember what it was anyway. SMILE! Tomorrow I hope to start reading my Friends page so that I can catch up with everything that has been happening in your lives. Man I'm going to have a lot of reading. SMILE!
