I'm sure that makes absolutely no sense, but hopefully it will shortly.

A few weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] masterofmusings and I had a bet going as to
what time I'd get back from a bowling outing that I went on. Pointless
really, especially since we both didn't mind losing, but it was still kinda
fun. If I lost, I said that I would make him whatever meal he wanted while
he was here, and if he lost, I'd get to pick a place to have food delivered
the next time I go visit him since cooking isn't exactly one of his better
talents. GRIN!!! Well, I lost. Therefore, he came up with the meal that he
wants. Grilled cheese sandwiches, mashed potatoes with real butter, (the
potatoes have to be real too, no instant), and banana bread. So, given his
request, I went on a search for a good banana bread recipe since the one I
used to use has gone the way of many items of mine. And, I came up with what
sounds like an absolutely wonderful, moist recipe.

Cream Cheese Banana Bread

8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup mashed bananas
2 eggs
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

Combine cream cheese, sugar and butter, mixing until well blended. Blend in
bananas and eggs. Add combined remaining ingredients, mixing just until
moistened.
Pour into prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center
comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pan and serve with additional
cream cheese.

Personally though, I won't be adding the nuts, but otherwise, it sounds
really good so I can't wait to give it a try next week.

Mmm, that sounds delicious. However, I kind of question your beloved's food combination preferences. Hahaha. That menu sounds...interesting. I like all three items, I'm just not sure about them together.

Oh, believe me! I totally agree!! But, I promised, so he's getting what he wants.

That's interesting. I've never heard of putting cream cheese in banana bread. My kids don't let me put nuts in mine, either.

I haven't either, but I have a chocolate cake recipe that calls for sour cream, and that is the best chocolate cake, so I figure this has to be really good too.

So you put sour cream in stuff, hoping I won't notice, then you don't put nuts in stuff. Something seems vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly unfair. <HUGE GRIN>.

What an odd combination of foods! Where are the vegetables? I bet it'll be delicious, though.

He doesn't know what vegetables are. I don't eat them much myself, but I definitely eat more than he does.

How do you link to people's journals? For example, if you say I was talking to (insert person's journal etc. here), how do you do that? Thanks.

The code you'd use is less-than lj user="username" greater-than. Obviously you'd use the less-than and greater-than signs rather than writing them out, and no space after the less or before the greater. I'll attempt to write it out here in parenthesis, but it might not work. ([livejournal.com profile] kittytech) and then LJ translates that code into the user picture/journal link. It's pretty neat. Hope this helps. Nope, it actually did the translation even with the parenthesis.

Hey, do you mind if I post this recipe in my own journal? I'm not sure where you got it, so I figured I'd better ask first, but I'm getting rather fervent demands over here. Haha.

Go for it. I got it as an email a long time ago, and I'm not even sure what the source is. I'm a bit behind on my F-page. Did you try it? I'm making it tomorrow.

Awesome, thanks. Yep, I did try it, and instead of nuts, I used some semi sweet chocolate chips I had in the cabinet, and it was delicious. Since I didn't have a loaf pan, I used a 7x11 pan, and shortened the bake time to about 45 minutes. Yum. I'll definitely do it again.
