You'd be doing it the hard way, but I'd recommend doing this. Once you've changed everything over to using kittytech.org, let the other domain name lapse. If you want to continue using it after next year, renew it again at your new host--I can't see anyone else using it, to be honest; it's pretty unique. Because you'll presumedly be using a kittytech.org email address by then, nothing should be broken in the meantime. That'll give you a chance to see if you want to go back to using that domain name or stick with the one you've got now. If you do, the act of renewing and letting the other name lapse should be simple. And, if you don't, then it's no big inconvenience on your part at the end of the day.
Also, if it makes things a little easier for you, you could set carolineskittycorner.com to mirror whatever content is up on kittytech.org, that way in reality if you do decide to do as I suggested, that domain name will only realisticly be down for perhaps a couple days. Meanwhile, again, your new domain name will still be taking over for that length of time. Just a thought from someone who's made a similar web hosting mistake. Which reminds me, if ever you're thinking about switching hosts, run as far away from these guys as you can. Their support sucks, and so does what they offer.
