Oops!!!!

The following is a phone conversation that just took place a couple of minutes ago. I was attempting to call a friend who normally screens all calls, so I was expecting to get the answering machine. (Names have been changed).

Phone rings 3 times and then is picked up:

Person: "Hello, Smith's."

Me: "I can't believe you actually picked up the phone!!!!"

Person: (Little twittery laugh) "Oh? Is this Jennifer?"

Me: "Um, no. I thought you were Jennifer."

Person: "No, this is Jennifer's Mother-in-Law. She's not in right now." ...

So the conversation continued, and I'm looking for any possible hole in my floor that I can crawl into. Those two sound so similar, and this isn't the first time I've mixed them up. But, this lady probably thinks I'm a nut now. (Okay, I am, but I really do try to keep that part of my life hidden from everyone else. GRIN!!!!) So, my friend wasn't home, and I didn't get to talk to her, but I did make someone laugh, I hope.
