Duh, 101

So this falls into the category of stupid statements of the century. [livejournal.com profile] masterofmusings is still trying to install and configure programs on his new laptop. He was looking on the Winzip site for the download and wasn't having much luck for a while. I offered to send it to him, and he said that I couldn't because it was an executable file and those don't send through Windows Live Messenger. So, in typical me fashion, and completely without thinking I said, "Okay, so I'll zip it for you." Hmm. Let's see what's wrong with this statement. Zipping a program that's used to unzip files ... Yes, Windows does have its own utility for this, but it's so incredibly SLOW!!!! Sometimes I wonder ...

Ha!

That sounds like something I'd do. You just totally pulled a me. I've never seen a moment in which I've read someone else's lj, and had a better image of me, doing the exact same thing. Nice job. *smile*

If it makes you feel better, [livejournal.com profile] masterofmusings is incorrect. Windows Live Messenger will allow you to send executeable files. I've done it on multiple occasions.

Hey, I'm surprised Vista doesn't have the builtin extracting feature XP does. I really like using it rather than having to use another program like Winzip, etc.. It's also interesting because I've also had no luck at all in sending executable files over WLM. I get a message saying the file could not be sent. HMMM! Dang technology!

Vista does have it built in. It's just that the utility that comes with Windows is slower and doesn't have as many features.
