More Crock Pot Fun

Tomorrow I want to make Cheesy
Crock Pot Chicken
. Unfortunately, before I can actually do this, I
needed to wash out my crock from the last time I used it. Little did I know
that this was going to be an interesting task. Yesterday though, I saw a
post in the [livejournal.com profile] what_a_crock community by [livejournal.com profile] cozyjeans
asking about stuck-on food. Her timing for this couldn't have been better,
and my crock is currently sitting in my sink with a bounce dryer sheet and
extremely hot water. There were lots of tips for getting things clean, and
the actual entry can be found here if
anyone else ever finds themselves in need of a good set of cleaning tips.
This community is truly busy, but I've gotten some really good stuff from it
so it's been worth it to me. Now, let's see if the dryer sheet does what
it's supposed to do. I've been wanting this chicken for a few weeks now, and
the thought of serving it over rice just makes me hungry!!! And no, [livejournal.com profile] dahlia_and_balu, chances are pretty good that I won't be adding any
evil vegetables except for maybe some cornand/or mushrooms, which some
people don't consider to be vegetables anyway. GRIN!!!

Yum! And how simple! I went to a woman's house once, and she had some kind of chicken with cheese on it, and mixed in with it, she had macaroni noodles and various veggies. If this even resembles that recipe, I'll be adding vegetables in for sure. I do prefer noodles instead of rice though.

Yeah, I'm sort of torn between the rice and the noodles too, only because I just had rice. But, at the same time, I can throw rice into my rice cooker and forget about it so it fits so much better with my lazyish lifestyle. GRIN!! But, the more I think about it, the more I am liking the noodle idea so I guess we'll see what happens as the time gets closer.

Evil vegetables? Vegetables are wonderful!

I never had success with chicken in the crockpot. It always came out stringy.

Wow! I absolutely love crock pot chicken! It's juicy and has so much flavor! I use boneless chicken breasts, and for tomorrow I'm actually going to cut things up into bite-size pieces first before cooking it so that later it'll be easier to dish up and eat. Tonight though, it's the rest of my BBQ chicken pizza from yesterday!

Haha, I'm happy to be of assistance. I actually wound up combining three suggestions, and the dryer sheet was one of them. I'm not sure which part worked the best, but I finally was able to get it clean. I filled the crock with soapy water, added some baking soda and a dryer sheet, and cooked it on high for like...an hour, maybe? Upon removing the crock very carefully and setting it in the sink, I ran some cold water in it, and it was a breeze to clean. I wish you luck, and that cheesy chicken sounds yummy. We're having leftover slow cooker Italian beef stew tonight. Yum.

You're right. Corn and mushrooms: grain and fungi. At least corn grows in the vegetable garden. LOL

Oh, and BTW, you could alter that recipe, and instead of the cheddar cheese soup, use enchilada sauce, and add in some chili powder and cumin, and voila, you've got crockpot enchilada ish stuff.

Yum!! I don't have that on hand at the moment, but that sounds absolutely awesome! I might have to try that at some point and then shred the chicken. Oh man am I hungry!!!!!

Just curious, but have you tried using the bags they have to line crock pots and slow cookers with so clean up is easier? I just tried one last night when I used my crock pot and it made clean up so much faster because everything just stays in the bag. They are awesome, and you should try them if you haven't.

I've heard some mixed reviews of those bags, especially when it comes to stirring and things so I haven't tried them yet, but for some things I can definitely see them being beneficial.
