Happy New Year everybody!!!! I've been reading through entries from others, and wanted to post my own entry to welcome the new year. I just can't believe that it's actually 2007. It seems like just yesterday when everyone was freaking out because it was going to change from 1999 to 2000 and the whole world might shut down. Now? Well, that was six years ago and the world hasn't come to a screeching halt.

My New Year's Eve was spent having the traditional; or maybe not so traditional who knows, party. However, in addition to new year's eve, we combined it into my 30th birthday party as well, so that party I've been talking about for over a year did happen. It was very, um, interesting, but I hope everyone enjoyed themselves over all. I got to see [livejournal.com profile] littlefroggy and I think it's been about twelve years since I saw her last, and [livejournal.com profile] sas_on_heels was there along with a bunch of other people. We had lots of snacks and things, and believe me, now we're trying to eat our way through our kitchen. We currently don't have a stove, and there's no room in our fridge for anything. We welcomed in the new year with noisemakers and sparkling grape juice; (by that time all the good stuff was pretty much packed up I think). I got some great stuff from people too, including a gift card for a great department store where I absolutely love to shop, Seventh heaven season 3 on DVD, and Punky Brewster season 2 on DVD. Punky is soooo cute!!!!! SMILE! I also got this really huge bottle of something that I've never had before, and I can't wait to try it out, but once it's opened it has to go into the fridge, and unfortunately that's not happening right now so I have to wait.

Before the party started, [livejournal.com profile] voyagerjc and I were taken out to dinner at a sports bar. It's kind of like an Irish pub thing, so when Ireland hit midnight, (6:00 PM Central time), we got to celebrate. They handed out party hats, noise-makers, and Champaign. We were there at a really good time, and their pub burgers are probably some of the best burgers around. Imagine 8 ounces of juicy meat piled on a bun with tons of bacon and mushrooms, with a really big pile of fries. There was so much there that by the time I got to the party I was pretty full, and it took me so long to finish my one piece of cake that when I finally finished with it everyone in the room cheered.

Once midnight came we all pretty much cleared out. I think I finally got to bed a little after 1:00, and throughout the night Taz kept meowing and meowing, and I never did really figure out what that was all about. I woke up at 8:00 and started watching the first disk of Seventh heaven. I plan to spend the rest of the day with my DVD player, the cats, and my new DVDs. This should be great!

I thought I'd leave everyone with a couple of pictures from the party. The cake was a quarter sheet cake, chocolate with butter cream frosting, and in the center was a picture of Taz and Cally. Sam's Club can take pictures and transfer them somehow onto edible paper, and that's what they did with my babies, so I ended up eating part of Taz's head. Hey, maybe that's why he was so noisy last night; he realized that part of his head was gone. SMILE! The other pictures are decorations, (balloons and streamers, and then a banner that was hung up that said happy birthday. The theme, (surprise surprise), was cats, and the closest thing I could come up with was hello Kitty, so most everything was Hello Kitty. So, for those that can see the pictures, enjoy, for those that can't, at least you'll have some sort of idea what they're about. Later everyone!

I'm waiting for it to be time when I can start making phone calls. (I've got an evaluation to try to get done today), and I don't like to call people too early since it sort of has the effect of making me into the evil witch of the morning. So, while I wait for it to get a little later, I thought I'd post. Things are really super slow anyway because nobody wants anything between Christmas and New Year's, so I'm trying to come up with things I can do to pass the time.

When I read my Friend's page this morning I saw that three people are either feeling sick or having some kind of breathing-related issue. I hope you all feel better, and I am extremely relieved that a virus can't be passed around through LJ because it'd be my luck that I'd get it. I've done really well this season, and I just hope that my luck holds out for a while. After New Year's I suppose I can get sick if I have to, but I'd still rather not.

I had a lazy weekend. I made the pork tenderloin that I wrote about. I mixed garlic powder and seasoning salt together and rubbed it all over the meat. I wrapped it in foil and let it sit in the fridge for a day before putting it in the oven. I lost my meat thermometer, (who knows where it ended up), so I was lucky enough to be able to borrow someone else's so that I wouldn't overcook this stuff. I guess it's pretty easy to do, and I didn't want charbroiled dried meat for Christmas. It came out great though, and I was really happy about that. We really didn't have any presents to open. Jim and I are really bad when it comes to waiting for the day, so we've been giving each other our presents all month. I got the Resco recorder program for my PAC Mate, (or I will have it once I register my demo copy), and a headset that was supposed to be for the PAC mate with a built-in microphone, but I think I'm going to have to use it with something else since I'm not overly happy with the performance of it on the PM, simply because the PM only has a mono mic jack. I need to find my other mic that I had for my PlexTalk since I think that was mono, and a really good mic. I also need to look for something to use with my digital recorder. Yes, it has a built-in mic, but it'd be nice to have an external for those times when I want to have the recorder in my jacket pocket or something. I'll come up with something I'm sure.

My birthday was uneventful, (write me privately if you want details), and passed pretty much like any other day. It wasn't the special day I had been hoping for, except that Jim brought me a bottle of vanilla bubble bath and a vanilla candle that I lit a couple of hours before taking my bath so that the smell would have time to penetrate. That was pretty much the extent of it though.

New Year's Eve is going to be my party, and a way to bring in the new year. I'm still looking forward to that. I just hope that once things are over I'll be able to return any unopened party decorations and things. Some people haven't given us an answer as to whether they're coming or not, and it makes it really hard to plan when people don't get back to me. It's one of those frustrating things I guess.

Well, I think I should probably post this now and try calling this guy again. It's late enough now that I think I can call. Happy New Year everyone!
